2019 Changes for Slug Control
The outdoor use of metaldehyde is to be phased out over 18 months. This period will give consumers and growers time to adjust to other methods of slug control.
Alternative slug killer pellets are available, so at Doff we are encouraging our retail customers to contact their Doff sales representatives to discuss the options for their ranges going forward.

It is the default position on all product withdrawals that product sales will only be allowed for 6 months, with a further 12 months to use up. However, as you can see from the announcement, discussions are continuing with HSE/DEFRA to obtain an extension to this default to allow retailers to sell-out to end September.
We hope to resolve this and communicate as soon as possible in January once key decision makers are back in HSE. There is precedent for such extension so we remain hopeful the regulators will accept this.
